Machine Learning Team Lead

Introduction 🔬

OccamzRazor boosts performance in drug discovery and manufacturing through data science and machine learning. We focus on developing models of cell-based systems using real-world data. These models enable scientists to achieve their goals faster, cheaper, and with a higher likelihood of success. We’ve tackled problems as wide reaching as cell line development in biologics production as well as novel preclinical model development in Parkinson’s disease.

Our team is composed of machine learning engineers, biomedical scientists, and computational biologists. We’re supported by the leading names in machine learning and biology, including our lead investor Jeff Dean (head of Google AI) and our advisor Randy Schekman (a Nobel Laureate).  Members of our team have published various components of our computational platform in the leading machine learning (NeurIPS) and natural language processing (ACL) journals.

OccamzRazor is a remote-first company with headquarters at the Johnson & Johnson Innovation Labs in Manhattan, New York.

The role 👩‍💻

We are looking for machine learning research engineers who have a record of excellence in solving complex problems via machine learning, data science, and engineering, and an enthusiasm for applying such methods in the biomedical domain.  New engineers work on problems as diverse as graph representation learning, transfer learning, semi-supervised learning, dimensionality reduction, clustering, visualization, or natural language processing.

On a day-to-day basis, you will 🧪

  • Mentor and coach the team so they can formulate problems and adopt the appropriate algorithms.

  • Organize work into projects and delegate tasks according to expertise

  • Report project status

  • Work with clients to onboard their data, define the right problems, and implement the appropriate machine learning solutions

  • Contribute to an industrial-grade codebase

Desired Qualifications 👩‍🔬

  • A degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field

  • Industry experience managing technical teams and projects

  • A theoretical and practical understanding of machine learning and computer science

  • A pragmatic and principled approach to solving complex problems

  • An interest and enthusiasm for working on biomedical problems

We recommend candidates list their ML projects and publications on their resume.
